All Game Boy Colors came with just enough capacitance on the board for the power regulator to work. Over time this capacitor gets worn and can store less energy. The result is noise on the audio, failure to save games occasionally, or complete failure of the board all together.
If you do any mods to your console such as backlights, new LCDs or audio upgrades, that slight increase in power is enough to either add a lot of high pitch noise to your audio or to cause other faults.
Install this ultra-high storage solid capacitor to remove any noise from your audio, clean up your power and allow you to get many more years out of your console.
To install simply de-solder the old capacitor, bend the new capacitor legs into place, trim them and solder it in the orientation shown in the image.
